Compulsively Creative, A Freebie & A Clip Art Linky

Happy Saturday everyone!  Hope all my friends are having a good weekend and got to sleep in a bit.  I slept in until... wait for it... 9 AM TODAY!  Wow!  (Of course, I was up till midnight compulsively creating, but that's not the point).  I haven't slept in so late in forever, yay!  :)

As I mentioned, last night I was up compulsively creating (what else can you do when your brain is too fuzzy to plan and you don't want to do laundry?)

Here's some new stuff I made while creating away:

I do so love pastel colors!  Working on a polka dot version and will soon make a bundled version of the chevron with frames.  :)

My kiddos LOVE our handwriting racers, so I went ahead and started making them for the rest of the year.   I'm working on individual packs and a big yearlong bundle, so stay tuned!  I can't wait for my foam blocks to get here in the mail so our dice last longer!  :)

And I made a background freebie pack for you!  :)  These can be used for personal OR commercial use (terms of use in the download).  Click on the picture above and don't forget, please leave feedback if you like it, it means a lot to me!  I also love getting links to the cool stuff you create!

And now for the linky!  I'm linking up with Primary Polka Dots for a fun clip art inspired linky today.  I adore clip art and am seriously in awe of all the talent out there.  I loved going through this linky and finding even more places to stalk check out.  I couldn't pick just one for most things, so I'm also going to write about more places to explore below each slide!

If My Family Was Clip Art: It's just Jason & Me.  My handsome prince who treats me like a princess every day, I am so lucky!  :)

FREEBIE Alert:  This was a toughie.  I chose Mel from Graphics from the Pond BECAUSE she has a ton of  terrific freebies.  She really is just amazing.  Her freebies include fonts, borders, backgrounds, cute clip art, and so on.  BUT you also need to know about My Cute Graphics!  Laura Strickland is another amazing artist who puts all her creations out there (and there are a ton) for FREE personal use, AND teachers are allowed to use it commercially for products sold on Teachers Pay Teachers!  She is such a generous and kind soul, check out her website now!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like:  Favorite holiday clip art was another toughie.  I picked Ashely Hughes because she made a lot of great Christmas clip art sets that I absolutely adored!  But she was by no means the only contender.  Krista Wallden from Creative Clips, Melissa from Pink Cat Studio, and Oodles of Doodles by Mrs. Messenger also produce lots of great clip art, and I especially love their seasonal/holiday creations!

Back It Up:  There are so many places to get great backgrounds!  Sonya DeHart and Little Red's Schoolhouse are my top two favorites, but I have several others.  Megan from I Teach, What's Your Superpower? also makes great backgrounds.  I just love her simple yet elegant digital paper packs!  I also need to mention Michelle from The 3 AM Teacher.  She is another generous clip art creator extraordinaire, who makes great backgrounds among her many other talents.  :)

That Cute Little 'Ol Thing: I picked this cute little lion baby because I LOVE all of Scrappin Doodles animal clip art, but I especially love their A-Z clip art set.  It's so useful for creating stuff for your kiddos!

Cover Girl: Caitlin Clabby makes the best products with the cutest covers!  Check out her great blog and her store!

All Time Favorite Clipart Artist:  Talk about IMPOSSIBLE to choose!  In the end, I divided my favorites between this category and the If I Were a Millionare.  Here are the links to these amazing artists' stores!  Srappin Doodles, KPM Doodles, Melonheadz Illustrations, and Miss Tina.

Lastly, I'm going to give some more love to some great places for clip art!  Bear with me...

The Clipart Factory: This is a relatively new store on TpT with lots of promise!  I just love the cute products in their growing selection, including great borders and backgrounds.

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Designs:  I love this store's cute clip art and backgrounds!  I also feel like they are very reasonably priced.  :)

The Digital Bake Shop:  Talk about adorable!  This Etsy store has it all: frames, backgrounds, cute clip art... Check it out!

Fonts from Kevin and Amanda:  Love this site!  You can use fonts for free commercially as long as you give credit and prominently display on of their blog buttons.  Or to be safe, you can buy a commercial license.  Love love love it!

Jen Jones (Hello Literacy):  While we're on the subject of fonts, check out Jen Jones!  I also adore her doodle borders and her great interventions for literacy.

The Hazel Owl:  Cute cute clip art and other creations for teachers.

There's so many more I could go on about, so I'll just say check out Etsy for more ideas!  :)

Sorry for rambling on so much, but I really had new bloggers in mind when I made this post.  I remember being new (well, I guess I still am!) and wondering where everyone got their cute clip art to make such wonderful products.  Hope this helps!

    1. Thank you so much Khrys! I do use Photoshop, but I am most definitely a novice! :) I just wish there was more time in the day to learn more (among the other gazillion teacher things I could do too, right?!?!) I hope your MRI went okay, let us know soon. I can't imagine being on crutches and teaching! I have a terrible ankle that I broke pretty badly in high school that usually gets sprained once a year, so I'm crossing my fingers!

Holiday Customs & Belated Friday Freebies

Saturday is here and Christmas Break has begun!  Well, in my case it's a 4 day weekend, but I'll take it.  I confess I am very jealous of my peers right now that get a two week break.  But I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a good break, and I can't wait to see the exciting stuff you create!  :) What a busy week it has been!  Between practicing for the Holiday Song Program, doing the Holiday Song Program, recovering from the Holiday Song Program, I'm not sure how we accomplished anything at all!  But accomplish we did, and largely thanks to you, my wonderful fellow blogger teachers!  I am so thankful for the great resources you make and share, they were a lifesaver this week for sure!  Here's a look at our week of Holiday Customs Around the World: Art Snowflake Craft Stick Ornaments (Parent Gift) These turned out so great!  I poured some craft (tacky) glue a bowl and they used Q-tips to place glue onto their gemstones.  Then, they put

There's No Place Like Space: Outer Space Adventures & Friday Freebie

TGIF!!!  What a week!  I absolutely adored seeing my kiddos learn about space, but this week was a toughie.  Sick and tired kiddos do not make for a happy class.  Everything kept going the wrong way: food spilled on the newly cleaned carpets, bloody noses on the newly cleaned carpets, bathroom accidents during the middle of centers, pink-eye working its' way around the room, forgotten materials at home, the printer at FedEx Office went haywire and messed up my play-doh mats, the copy machine at work broke, I broke the side mirror of my car coming out of the garage... Yikes!  I was seriously scared to leave my house this morning!  :)  So here's hoping the stars re-align this weekend and my class comes back rockin' and rollin' and ready to learn on Monday! With all that being said, it was still a fun and jam-packed week.  I loved overhearing one of my kiddos tell his parent, "Mom, did you know the sun is ACTUALLY a star?!?!"  And I got to test out another

Paper Bag Houses Love how these houses turned out!   Family Trees Some of my kiddos were even able to write most of the names on their family tree!
