February in the Air (Currently & A Sale!)

It's February!

That means several things.

First of all, we had to change our weather graph at school.  We compared January's weather to December's, then we made predictions for the weather of this super exciting new month!

It's also means that it's time for Farley's Currently!  (Many thanks to the amazing Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade, hop over to the linky by clicking here and don't forget the rule of three!  Except do more because it's the month of love!)

(If you're wondering about this adorable font, it's Friday I'm in Love from Graphics from the Pond!)

Listening: Silence, it's 6 AM and the hubby is sleeping!  I, on the other hand, can't ever sleep in on the weekends (which I am very sad about), so here I am blogging quietly away.  :)

Loving: That it's the weekend!  I was so ready for this long week to be over!

Thinking: I do seriously need to do my 13 page progress reports for each one of my kiddos.  So I will probably be MIA next week in the blogging world and I won't get to do what I REALLY want to do...

Wanting: Which is to work on a fun Valentine's Day Centers pack!  I have tons of fun ideas I want to create, but I don't know if it's going to happen this year.  Bummer.  Which brings me to what I need...

Needing: Time.  I know this is something all teachers would love to be able to buy more of, but I really need more time.  Since I work at an educational daycare center, we don't close until 6 at night.  We don't have summer break, spring break or winter break.  We don't even get 12 paid holidays.  Plus, I found out I was taking over my classroom the Friday before school started and it's been crazy ever since!  Yikes!

Pet Peeves: Apathy, Laziness and Germs!  Let's tackle germs because that's easy.  I love my four year olds but MAN they are GROSS sometimes!  They are always picking noses, eating boogers, coughing, touching, sneezing, and getting me sick!  I've got them washing their hands good but I seriously don't know how to stop this excessive nose picking.  Somebody help!!!

Apathy and laziness kind of go together.  I just can't stand people/parents/administrators who don't care.  I really can't stand this in the teaching world because it just breaks my heart.  If you don't care then why are you here?  Our kids deserve our best.  They are our FUTURE people, so take the time to care!  Invest something of yourself in them!  (Yes, I know I'm a dewy-eyed firstie, but I seriously care so much I can't believe other people aren't the same way).

Okay, end rant.  With all that being said, I am SUPER excited for February!  I can't wait to celebrate Valentine's Day with my kiddos!  And I am also super excited for the SUPER BOWL SALE!

Yes that's right, up to 28% off at Teachers Pay Teachers!  Check out this great linky party by clicking on the link above to see what everyone's selling.  Here's some of my favorites that are on sale...

  1. I agree about your apathy dislikes "rant." I am in my 9th year teaching, have 2 kids of my own and feel very sad when teachers don't care about what they are doing. I feel very lucky to be in a school were everyone is there because they love children.

    1. Thank you! By the time I got my kiddos, they had been doing to same old calendar routine all since preschool, so I knew I had to do something different. It all started with our introduction to the science center and what scientists do, because one thing scientists use their hands for is writing down what they see!

  3. Jessica, I am teaching about space this week. Headed to check out your fabulous space centers. It looks like just what I was looking for.

I complelely agree with your "rant" and unfortunately I work at a school where there are quite a few parents who don't care. It is so sad because their children are amazing!

Holiday Customs & Belated Friday Freebies

Saturday is here and Christmas Break has begun!  Well, in my case it's a 4 day weekend, but I'll take it.  I confess I am very jealous of my peers right now that get a two week break.  But I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a good break, and I can't wait to see the exciting stuff you create!  :) What a busy week it has been!  Between practicing for the Holiday Song Program, doing the Holiday Song Program, recovering from the Holiday Song Program, I'm not sure how we accomplished anything at all!  But accomplish we did, and largely thanks to you, my wonderful fellow blogger teachers!  I am so thankful for the great resources you make and share, they were a lifesaver this week for sure!  Here's a look at our week of Holiday Customs Around the World: Art Snowflake Craft Stick Ornaments (Parent Gift) These turned out so great!  I poured some craft (tacky) glue a bowl and they used Q-tips to place glue onto their gemstones.  Then, they put

There's No Place Like Space: Outer Space Adventures & Friday Freebie

TGIF!!!  What a week!  I absolutely adored seeing my kiddos learn about space, but this week was a toughie.  Sick and tired kiddos do not make for a happy class.  Everything kept going the wrong way: food spilled on the newly cleaned carpets, bloody noses on the newly cleaned carpets, bathroom accidents during the middle of centers, pink-eye working its' way around the room, forgotten materials at home, the printer at FedEx Office went haywire and messed up my play-doh mats, the copy machine at work broke, I broke the side mirror of my car coming out of the garage... Yikes!  I was seriously scared to leave my house this morning!  :)  So here's hoping the stars re-align this weekend and my class comes back rockin' and rollin' and ready to learn on Monday! With all that being said, it was still a fun and jam-packed week.  I loved overhearing one of my kiddos tell his parent, "Mom, did you know the sun is ACTUALLY a star?!?!"  And I got to test out another
