Valentine's Freebie & A Flash Giveaway!

Classroom Freebies Manic Monday
Happy Sunday night everyone!  (Or it could be Monday morning when you're reading this, if you're already in bed...)  I, however, am up to my usual frantic Sunday evening extravaganza, exacerbated by the fact that I spent A LOT of time making my own Valentine's center stuff instead of actually planning or doing my report cards... yikes!  So I may be MIA the rest of this week.  And I may not get to posting what we did for Simple Tools & Machines last week!

Anyways, I'm super excited about the stuff I made and I can't wait to share it with you in a fun flash giveaway!  :)  The rules are simple:

  5. Hi Jess, we also decorate Valentine boxes but we also do a secret Valentine exchange. I send home a note to the parents with whom it is that the child must create a super cute homemade Valentine for and that child brings the Valentine to school the day before the party (just in case someone forgets and I can send a reminder home). Then on the day of the party we sit in a circle and exchange the Valentines. It is so cute and fun.

I am forever a fan of your blog!

  8. What a great giveaway! So excited to be in the running:) A new follower of your blog as well. I am trying to do a little of sweet treats and a bit of kindness from the heart. A cool idea a friend of mine gave me was instead of a candy treat, they made disposable paper with seeds inside of them for the kiddos to plant "seeds of kindness" as each paper had a personal written note.

  15. Hope I am not too late! It has been a busy Monday! Your units look GREAT!
My favorite valentine idea is.... probably talking about friendship and providing many different activities for them to make something for a friend (or friends). It teaches them about the concepts of kindness and giving! Some kids like to color, some kids like to create by using glue and other craft materials--while some like to write. I usually like to try and provide different activities for them to choose what they want to make, how they want to make it and who they choose to give it to. (Although I do try to make sure that each child receives something)

Anyway, love the units!!!! Crossing my fingers that I get some luck this week and win!! =)
Have a nice week.... busy as it may be!

Holiday Customs & Belated Friday Freebies

Saturday is here and Christmas Break has begun!  Well, in my case it's a 4 day weekend, but I'll take it.  I confess I am very jealous of my peers right now that get a two week break.  But I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a good break, and I can't wait to see the exciting stuff you create!  :) What a busy week it has been!  Between practicing for the Holiday Song Program, doing the Holiday Song Program, recovering from the Holiday Song Program, I'm not sure how we accomplished anything at all!  But accomplish we did, and largely thanks to you, my wonderful fellow blogger teachers!  I am so thankful for the great resources you make and share, they were a lifesaver this week for sure!  Here's a look at our week of Holiday Customs Around the World: Art Snowflake Craft Stick Ornaments (Parent Gift) These turned out so great!  I poured some craft (tacky) glue a bowl and they used Q-tips to place glue onto their gemstones.  Then, they put

There's No Place Like Space: Outer Space Adventures & Friday Freebie

TGIF!!!  What a week!  I absolutely adored seeing my kiddos learn about space, but this week was a toughie.  Sick and tired kiddos do not make for a happy class.  Everything kept going the wrong way: food spilled on the newly cleaned carpets, bloody noses on the newly cleaned carpets, bathroom accidents during the middle of centers, pink-eye working its' way around the room, forgotten materials at home, the printer at FedEx Office went haywire and messed up my play-doh mats, the copy machine at work broke, I broke the side mirror of my car coming out of the garage... Yikes!  I was seriously scared to leave my house this morning!  :)  So here's hoping the stars re-align this weekend and my class comes back rockin' and rollin' and ready to learn on Monday! With all that being said, it was still a fun and jam-packed week.  I loved overhearing one of my kiddos tell his parent, "Mom, did you know the sun is ACTUALLY a star?!?!"  And I got to test out another

Paper Bag Houses Love how these houses turned out!   Family Trees Some of my kiddos were even able to write most of the names on their family tree!
