Christmas Catch Up: Elf Capades

I don't know how ANYONE has been able to blog in December... kudos to you!  It's been crazy with Christmas here in Kindergarten, but now that we're on break (praise the Lord) I'm ready to catch up with everyone!  Today's a look back on some moments with our elf on the shelf. Our elf package arrived one week into December after we wrote a letter to Santa asking for one.  I put the package in the freezer so it was nice and cold, then our sweet school secretary delivered it in the morning.  The kids all wanted to feel how cold it was! You can grab the cute free label from Cara Caroll by clicking here . Then we had to name our elf, of course.  Thunder was the final winner!  (Sorry for the poor picture.  The light in my room stinks!) Thunder was a great elf!  He brought us gingerbread treats when we studied Christmas in Germany... and ate the head off one!  We recorded each day's antics in our Elf Journals. You can...

Holiday Customs & Belated Friday Freebies

Saturday is here and Christmas Break has begun!  Well, in my case it's a 4 day weekend, but I'll take it.  I confess I am very jealous of my peers right now that get a two week break.  But I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a good break, and I can't wait to see the exciting stuff you create!  :) What a busy week it has been!  Between practicing for the Holiday Song Program, doing the Holiday Song Program, recovering from the Holiday Song Program, I'm not sure how we accomplished anything at all!  But accomplish we did, and largely thanks to you, my wonderful fellow blogger teachers!  I am so thankful for the great resources you make and share, they were a lifesaver this week for sure!  Here's a look at our week of Holiday Customs Around the World: Art Snowflake Craft Stick Ornaments (Parent Gift) These turned out so great!  I poured some craft (tacky) glue a bowl and they used Q-tips to place glue onto their ge...

December Currently {Sweet December Dollar Deals}

Wow have I been a busy bee this weekend!  I've been learning how to make backgrounds in Photoshop, playing with new apps from the Windows Store (speaking of, you MUST get iFontMaker, it is the coolest app ever), and shopping around for curriculum enhancements for our upcoming fairy tales, winter, and Christmas themes.  I am now too thoroughly exhausted to go to work tomorrow.  :) I just have to show you some of the great stuff I got to spice up our centers in the upcoming weeks!  I've always been a shopaholic great bargain hunter and here are some of my one dollar finds this weekend. Dollar Tree Dramatic Play Enhancements Princess gloves, tiaras, and fairy godmother wands to spice up the dramatic play center this week for our fairy tales unit!  I also nabbed some other great toys for themes next year: a doctor's kit and some firemen hats for Community Helpers, safari hats for Animals, etc.   Bingo Markers I refreshed our stock...

Tuesday Tiredness and Christmas Collaboration!

It's only Tuesday and I'm tired!  Yikes!  Definitely having issues getting back into the swing of things this week, probably due to my oncoming cold and the fact that half my class also has colds/strep/croup/who knows what. So I haven't gotten anything done that I want to, like work on my Winter Centers Pack, plan for December, write an inspiring blog post, change the world, so on and so forth. Actually I'm very bummed because I wanted to make a cute Christmas-themed "Go Shape" game for the kiddos, but didn't get around to it, and so instead this week we are playing with the boring blackline masters from our curriculum.  Alas. In other news, my husband is the BEST husband ever and he got me an early Christmas present! My new laptop and graphics tablet are on the way in the mail and I am SO excited! Hence the excessive capitalization and exclamation points!  I am a little nervous about switching to Windows 8 but I think I'll get the hang of it, and...
