Transportation Take Two: Wild about Water, Friday Freebie and a Giveaway!

Happy Friday!  :)  I am so exhausted/achy/drowning in mucus... okay sorry, that was gross!  (But true.  I hate colds!)  Luckily I have the best class in the world!  They are so sweet.  They were very considerate of my voice (or lack thereof) all week, and we still had bunches of fun.  I am so blessed!  And I am starting to feel better with the warmer weather.  55 today and loving it!  :) This week was all about water transportation!  The kiddos and I are just loving this transportation thing.  Read on and take a look! Art: Sea Scene Sponge Painting Who doesn't love painting with sponges?  The kiddos used two different colors of blue and sponges to make the water.  I loved how ripply the sponges made the water look!  After those dried, they drew a way to travel on water.  I could really tell how much they had learned about different kinds of water transportation from what I saw.  :) ...

Transportation Take One: Lovin' the Land Theme {and some Friday Freebies!}

Happy Friday Saturday!  Knew it was going to be hard impossible to get this post done by Friday, and surely enough, I couldn't!  That's because we had SO much fun and did so many awesome things this week. my brain was like a wrung out sponge that couldn't possibly do anything more until the weekend started.  :) We started our three week journey into transportation this week and it was a success!  I discovered that I actually love teaching about transportation.  I love it so much I made a unit for it on Teachers Pay Teachers, and I tested it out on my kiddos, who were great guinea pigs (among their many other talents)! Read on to see pictures and hear more about the fun stuff we did this week! Art: Travel Suitcases These were so much fun to make (and it was so interesting to discover what my kiddos thought was necessary to bring on vacation!)  They were really easy to assemble, too.  I owe lots of thanks to my coworker next door who ...

Signs of Winter & Friday Freebies

Okay, let me ask right off the bat: is your class going crazy a sign of winter?!?! Speaking of more signs of winter, it SNOWED this week!  Yay!  Loved teaching my kiddos how to play Fox and Geese in the snow.  It's a shame it wasn't sticky enough to make a snowman, but we did follow these animal tracks all over the playground and had lots of fun speculating what it might have been.  My favorite guess is that it was a baby camel!  :) Crazy unusual behavior aside, most of this week was wonderful!  We did so many fun and creative things I can't wait to share with you.  Here's a look at our art projects, math, science, and writing center activities, plus great books we read this week.  Here goes: Art Snowy Bear Scene I LOVE how these turned out.  On the day we learned about animals that hibernate, the kiddos cut out a bear and cave that I had traced onto construction paper.  I was a little hesitant about the bear, but I ...
