The Pigeon HAS to Go to School! By Mo Willems

Pigeon is not on board with this ABC and 123 thing… but his hesitation melts away when he finds out school busses are involved! :) Pigeon’s latest adventure is sure to delight both old and new fans.

Help Pigeon get to school with this fun path game freebie! 4 different ways to play, including: addition/subtraction practice, number recognition and subitizing!

Pirates Don’t Go to Kindergarten! By Lisa Robinson

Pigeon isn’t the only one reluctant to go to school. This preschool pirate doesn’t want to jump ship and switch classrooms! Can she ever be convinced to join the kindergarten crew?

Sorry, Grown-Ups, You Can’t Go to School! By Christina Geist

These adults wish they could wear cool new shoes and go back to school. Sorry grown-ups, but school is just for kids and teachers!

I think this book would be SO FUN to read if you invite caregivers into the classroom on the first day of school! Encourage families to learn more about each other with this fun interview activity:

Clothesline Clues to the First Day of School by Kathryn Heiling and Deborah Hembrook

I am SO HAPPY we are getting another book in this series! These books are the best for teaching inferencing. Seriously, you must buy Clothesline Clues to Jobs People Do for community helpers later in the school year!

Help your new students become familiar with their classroom and school with these fun free scavenger hunts! There’s also a bonus classroom riddles activity for independent readers.

Back to School by Maya Ajmera and John D. Ivanko

Learn more about children going back to school around the world with this read-aloud! I just love the photographs and opportunity to compare/contrast.

If Animals Went to School by Ann Whitford Paul

Another adorable book in this sweet series! Perfect for preschoolers.

Encourage children to imagine what would happen if their favorite animal came to school with this free class book:

Even Monsters Go to School by Lisa Wheeler

Seems like everyone gets to go to school (but not grown-ups!) From yetis to giants to aliens, little monsters everywhere are preparing for a new year, too.

Help those little monsters get ready by packing their backpack with this fun, free craftivity! This is a good one for the bulletin board.

When it’s lunch, make sure those monsters have something to munch… lest you end up on the menu!

(And realistically, it has totally NOTHING to do with genetics or some secret-exercise and absolutely EVERYTHING to related to "how" they eat.)

BTW, What I said is "HOW", and not "what"...

Holiday Customs & Belated Friday Freebies

Saturday is here and Christmas Break has begun!  Well, in my case it's a 4 day weekend, but I'll take it.  I confess I am very jealous of my peers right now that get a two week break.  But I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a good break, and I can't wait to see the exciting stuff you create!  :) What a busy week it has been!  Between practicing for the Holiday Song Program, doing the Holiday Song Program, recovering from the Holiday Song Program, I'm not sure how we accomplished anything at all!  But accomplish we did, and largely thanks to you, my wonderful fellow blogger teachers!  I am so thankful for the great resources you make and share, they were a lifesaver this week for sure!  Here's a look at our week of Holiday Customs Around the World: Art Snowflake Craft Stick Ornaments (Parent Gift) These turned out so great!  I poured some craft (tacky) glue a bowl and they used Q-tips to place glue onto their gemstones.  Then, they put

There's No Place Like Space: Outer Space Adventures & Friday Freebie

TGIF!!!  What a week!  I absolutely adored seeing my kiddos learn about space, but this week was a toughie.  Sick and tired kiddos do not make for a happy class.  Everything kept going the wrong way: food spilled on the newly cleaned carpets, bloody noses on the newly cleaned carpets, bathroom accidents during the middle of centers, pink-eye working its' way around the room, forgotten materials at home, the printer at FedEx Office went haywire and messed up my play-doh mats, the copy machine at work broke, I broke the side mirror of my car coming out of the garage... Yikes!  I was seriously scared to leave my house this morning!  :)  So here's hoping the stars re-align this weekend and my class comes back rockin' and rollin' and ready to learn on Monday! With all that being said, it was still a fun and jam-packed week.  I loved overhearing one of my kiddos tell his parent, "Mom, did you know the sun is ACTUALLY a star?!?!"  And I got to test out another
