Tales of a Target Teacherista: Goodies & a Giveaway!

Having a love affair with Target is nothing new for teachers.  I've tried to save myself (and my wallet) all summer, so when I headed in yesterday it was like stumbling across an oasis in the desert!  Naturally I can't keep all the great things I found to myself.


Mmmm guided reading supplies!  The Eric Carle bags are absolutely adorable for sending reading bags home.  The word strips I use for Mix N' Fix (scrambled sentences) during guided reading.  I model making a connection and writing it down in a sentence, cut it apart and mix it up, and the kiddos help me fix it.  Then they write their own connection down on the small sentence strip whiteboards.


I love these card sorts, puzzles and bingo games for skill-building in small groups!


It wouldn't be a true Target trip if I didn't stock up some stickers, stamps and organizational goodies.  :)  I love the cute buckets with chalkboard/dry erase surfaces and color-coded baskets (great for turn-in work).  I go through a lot of stickers because each Tues/Thurs the kids bring back their guided reading back, they get a sticker for each sentence they wrote about the book in their journals!


Aaand I may have bought the same skirt in 2 or 4 different colors.  With matching cardigans.  And some coordinating scarves.  :)

    Of course I love the dollar spot, but I'm a fan of their long/lean tanks! I have them in lots of colors!

    I love the bargain bins at Target but here in Canada they aren't as awesome as in the States. But I'm a lover anyway

    Favorite things to grab at Target include items from the dollar bins and the clearance rack. Basically I like to find deals.

    I loved seeing all of your Target finds! I bought the letter stickers, name tags and green paper trays. My target was running low on the paper trays and didn't have the yellow ones. I guess I will be going back to see if they have any! Thanks for doing this giveaway!

    I love the letter stickers. I also get the rainbow star stickers for the folders. I love the Dr. Seuss stuff that they have every year.

    I love the anticipation of what neat thing I'll find at the dollar spot! I have been collecting their $3 plastic file folders for a couple years and I finally think I have enough. Well...time will tell if I have enough :)

    I'm a sucker for Target clothes! I actually have that gray cardigan you've got there. :) I love it. But the Dollar Spot is always my first stop.

    I picked up some Dr. Seuss borders, bags, erasers, and bulletin board items for Read Across America that were $1 each in the dollar spot. I love checking out the dollar spot and grabbing anything that will work in my classroom for prizes or decorations.

There's No Place Like Space: Outer Space Adventures & Friday Freebie

Food, Health and Hygiene Fun & TWO Friday Freebies!

My first ever parent teacher conferences are over and I survived! They actually went really well. Although, as many of my parents said, I talk to them so much anyways it wasn't like they were hearing anything new. What can I say? I'm so proud of their kiddos and constantly have to let them know about it! :) Our theme this week was all about Food and Health with a little bit of Hygiene. Overall the week went a lot more smoothly than I expected, being that I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off finalising details for conferences, putting together invitations for Pies with Grandparents next week, and trying to pick a holiday song for our class to sing at the Holiday Program because, as the office keeps kindly reminding us, Christmas is JUST AROUND THE CORNER.
